Katie became a LIVES Responder in 2011. She enjoyed volunteering as a Community First Responder so much she decided to join the ambulance service as an Emergency Care Assistant. Katie started has continued to further her knowledge and expand her skills, she became a Specialist Practitioner in October 2020 and can now on manage patients in the community with more complex decision making. She just started a master’s degree in urgent care at Nottingham University.

Katie was nominated by a former patient that she treated after he suffered a cardiac arrest, he went on to say “Kate had to defibrillate me five times, on route she comforted my partner and even waited whilst I went into surgery at Lincoln. I work as a PCSO with Lincolnshire Police and had met Katie at many jobs we had been called too and have since. Katie serves with East Midlands Ambulance Service and volunteers for LIVES, she gives back to her community far beyond her working remit and is a dedicated professional. She demonstrates empathy for her patients and carries out her life saving role in a supremely confident manner. Katie will always be my family’s hero as she gave me a second chance at life.”
