On Saturday 25th May eight colleagues from Napier Turbochargers took on a mountain of a challenge, quite literally as they completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for LIVES.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge involves climbing to the summit of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The route is a gruelling 24 miles and includes 1585m of ascent.
The team decided to do something for LIVES in memory of their colleague Tom Schmitt, who sadly passed away in May 2018. Tom, who had a passion for motocross, suffered an asthma attack and unfortunately lost his life.
The team initially set a fundraising target of £2,000 but manged to surpass it and raise an incredible £3,000 for LIVES – a fitting total; £1,000 for each peak.
One of the climbers taking part said: “It was all worth the aching limbs, pulled muscles and blisters for the memory of Tom.”
The team send their thanks for everyone who has donated, which they said helped spur them on throughout the challenge.
This donation will go directly into keeping LIVES responders on the road. It will provide them with training and equipment so they can be there for you in a 999 medical emergency.
