October 16th marks Restart a Heart Day, an international initiative aimed at raising awareness of CPR and defibrillator use. At LIVES, we know how critical these life-saving skills are. Every second counts in a cardiac emergency, and performing CPR or using a defibrillator can double, or even triple, someone’s chance of survival.
To help you learn these vital techniques, we’re thrilled to share a special video featuring Amy, one of LIVES’ expert educators. In this video, Amy demonstrates how to perform CPR and use a defibrillator—two key skills everyone should know.
Survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest remain stubbornly low in the UK, with fewer than one in 10 people surviving. Without immediate help, the chances of survival are slim. That’s why Restart a Heart Day is so important. It empowers bystanders with the confidence and knowledge to step in when someone collapses, potentially saving a life.
At LIVES, we’re proud to be part of this movement, equipping people across Lincolnshire with essential skills that could mean the difference between life and death. Amy’s video is a step-by-step guide, making it easy for anyone to learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator, even if you’ve never done it before.
We encourage you to watch Amy’s video, practice the techniques at home, and share this blog with friends and family. By learning CPR and defibrillator use, you’re not just gaining a new skill—you’re becoming a vital part of the life-saving chain in your community.
Together, let’s restart hearts and save lives!
