Meet the Saxilby Steelers (Krazy Races team)—a group of dads from Saxilby who have been friends since school and bonded over their shared love for running and being part of the local community and raced for LIVES in Lincoln’s Krazy Races! For the past five to six years, Glynn, Pete, John, Chris, and Marcus have been supporting one another through their running club, using the time to open up about the joys (and challenges) of fatherhood.
This year, the group took on a new challenge by forming the Saxilby Steelers (in honour of the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team) to compete in the Lincoln Krazy Races. They built a soapbox from scratch and raced alongside over 25 teams, finishing an impressive 11th place!
Their participation was about more than just the thrill of the race—it was also a way to give back to our community by raising funds for LIVES!
We play a vital role in providing immediate medical support to those in need, often arriving on the scene before an ambulance. The Saxilby Steelers chose to support LIVES because of its life-saving work across the county. Through their participation in the Krazy Races, they’ve been raising money to ensure LIVES can continue responding to emergencies quickly and effectively.
The Saxilby Steelers through their teamwork, friendship, and a little bit of creativity can go a long way in making a difference.
LIVES is incredibly grateful for their support and dedication. Well done, Saxilby Steelers, for your fantastic achievement and for helping keep Lincolnshire residents safe!
